What happens to my disability hearing if I move?

If you are waiting for a hearing on your disability case, it is important to know how moving might impact you.

Each hearing office (called an Office of Disability Adjudication and Review or ODAR) covers a specific geographic area.  On this website, you can look up which hearing office serves your local field office.  By moving to an area served by a different field office, you may find your case transferred to a new ODAR.  This could result in needing to find a new attorney, or potentially having a longer wait for your hearing.

For example, my client Jim used to live in downtown Portland.  By typing in his zipcode here, I can see that because of his address, he is served by the downtown Portland field office. As you might expect, the Portland ODAR holds hearings for people who are served by the downtown Portland field office.

When Jim moved to Medford, Oregon, his case was transferred to the Eugene hearing office.
