The application process for Social Security disability is complicated and not well-understood, especially when you are dealing with a disabling illness or injury. To help individuals and case workers better navigate the process, Social Security lawyer Cheryl Coon is offering a number of presentations around Portland this spring.
SSD and Parkinson’s Disease: Coon will visit the Parkinson’s Center of OHSU April 14 to provide information and advice about Social Security disability benefits for people with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, with a focus on the process, timelines and tips for successful applications.
SSD Info at Beaverton Library: Find information and advice about Social Security disability benefits at the Beaverton Library April 13, beginning at 6 p.m. The presentation will address: the basic process of applying for disability benefits; when and why a person gets awarded benefits; and advice on how to improve your chances of a favorable decision.
SSD Benefits for HIV/AIDS: Caseworkers at Cascade AIDS Project will learn about Social Security disability benefits for people with a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS March 24. The presentation will focus on the process, timelines and tips for successful applications.
