A just-published study in the Journal of the American Medical Society revealed that returning veterans with post-traumatic stress syndrome are being prescribed very powerful opioids for pain — more powerful than is prescribed for returning vets without PTSD. The consequences can be significant, the study finds. Those veterans had a higher prevalence of adverse effects, including suicide.
