On Tuesday September 26, 2017, TCNF partner Ray Thomas appeared with Sheriff Deputy Sgt.  Julie Denny, and Oregon State Police Sgt. Jeff Prouix to discuss Oregon’s new Distracted Driving Law which takes effect on October 1, 2017. Host Geoffrey Riley took questions from audience members and we described the new tougher law designed to reduce dangerous distracted driving. The program airs on 12 frequencies in Oregon and California and will be streaming on The Jefferson Exchange (they are also on Facebook and Twitter).

The new law eliminates loopholes for use of GPS and game devices as well as raising the penalties for violations. The new law is HB 2597 and may be found in the newly revised ORS 811.507.
