Cynthia Newton’s Talk to FTWA on Pedestrian Rights and Safety Issues


On October 12, Cynthia Newton spoke to Foot Traffic’s Women’s Academy (“FTWA”) before their Saturday morning training session.  Cynthia’s talk focussed on pedestrian rights and safety issues, emphasizing rules governing road, sidewalk, shared use path and crosswalk usage as well as the respective responsibilities of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists in each.  She also addressed pedestrian visibility and stopping distances involved in pedestrian/vehicle collisions.  The FTWA is an all-women’s training and walking program which prepares members to complete a 10K or half marathon events.  For more information about Foot Traffic’s Academy go to www.foottraffic.us.
