Cynthia Newton Presents to Portland’s Les Femmes Debutantes Youth Program

Cynthia Newton recently presented “Empowering the Debutante Cyclist” to the young women of Portland’s famed Les Femmes Debutantes youth program.   Cynthia’s talk focused on increasing the teens’ awareness of their rights and responsibilities as cyclists and pedestrians, emphasizing safety issues confronted when using city roads, sidewalks, and crosswalks.  She emphasized cyclist and pedestrian visibility and clear communication with motorists in an effort to avoid pedestrian/cyclist/vehicle collisions.

Les Femmes was created in 1951 to promote the social growth and educational opportunities of Portland’s youth through a well-orchestrated series of programs, meetings and activities.
