On May 11, Cynthia Newton presented Rules of the Road for Pedestrians at Portland Foot Traffic’s popular Women’s Academy. The presentation addressed traffic rules and safety issues for pedestrians, including how to use the road shoulder, bike lane, shared pathways and crosswalks. The Academy, held over a series of Saturdays, was designed by Foot Traffic to inspire women runners and joggers of all ages and abilities with a focus on lifestyle and holistic health rather than speed. The talk was part of Cynthia’s continued efforts to educate vulnerable road users about their rights and responsibilities, a logical extension of her litigation efforts on behalf of walkers and cyclists and families whose loved ones have been seriously injured or killed.
