Cynthia Newton Presents the Bicycle Transportation Alliance’s Final Bike Clinic of 2013

The Bicycle Transportation Alliance’s final bike clinic of 2013 was presented by STCN’s Cynthia Newton at BTA headquarters on November 6.  Entitled “The Cyclist in All of Us,” Cynthia’s presentation “The Cyclist in All of Us” addressed bicycling basics and the rights, safety concerns and practical solutions of Portland cyclists’ greatest challenges: right hook collisions, sidewalk/curb cut/crosswalk interactions, left hand turn approaches and “taking the lane.”  Cynthia is particularly sensitive to the concerns of the less aggressive cyclist–whether they be female or not–who may not be comfortable in all road situations. The clinic’s diverse attendees participated in the lively question-and-answer session which emphasized the interplay between the cyclist and other road and sidewalk users.
